This is the last chance to participate in the upcoming International Oskar Barnack photographic competition, with entries open until 31st of January.
An international panel of judges will choose the winner, which awards prizes recognising outstanding photojournalism. They will be looking for images ?whose powers of observation and reportage most vividly express man?s relationship to his environment? in a collection of up to 12 photographs.
The award was created in 1979 to mark the 100th birthday of Oskar Barnack (1879 – 1936), inventor of the Leica camera. The prize is sponsored by Leica as part of its cultural projects and is awarded with the co-operation of Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles, France.
Guy Tillim won the Barnack award in 2005 with a photo report called ?Johannesburg Story? which documented the city?s underclass and ghetto conditions.
