Trio of IXUS models announced alongside new PowerShot addition
Canon has today announced a host of compact cameras, including a trio of new IXUS models – the IXUS 255 HS, IXUS 135 and IXUS 132 – as well as a brand new PowerShot addition in the shape of the PowerShot A2500.
The headline IXUS model is the IXUS 255 HS. It features a 10x optical zoom complete with Canon’s Intelligent IS stabilisation system, while a 12.1MP CMOS sensor also features, complete with Canon’s DIGIC 5 processor and HS system.
The IXUS 255 HS is one of the latest additions to Canon’s growing range of Wi-Fi enabled range of cameras. The Wi-Fi technology allows for wireless uploading of images to sites such as Facebook and Twitter, while GPS functionality is also supported through the Wi-Fi connectivity.
The IXUS 135 features the same Wi-Fi functionality, albeit with a slightly more restricted specification. The model features an 8x optical zoom and 16MP sensor, although it lacks Canon’s HS imaging system. The IXUS 132, meanwhile, shares the bulk of its specification with the IXUS 135, although it lacks the Wi-Fi functionality.
The Canon PowerShot A2500 is a more entry-level model and, as a result, features a specification to match. A 16MP sensor features complete with a 5x optical zoom, while a 2.7in LCD is housed on the read of the camera.
As of today there’s no news on pricing or a release date for the four cameras, but for more information head over to Canon.
