Sony Ericsson has teamed up with The Times to launch the Camera Phone Photographer of the Year 2006 competition.
The companies are encouraging photographers of all abilities to use their mobiles to capture images that would be worthy of gracing the pages of a top UK newspaper. There are three subject categories to choose from, including Sport, Current Affairs and Landscape/Environment. Entries should be sent via MMS to 07834 885 058, from where they will be uploaded onto www.timesonline.co.uk.
Each week the best photograph will be chosen and the winner will receive a Sony Ericsson K800i camera phone. A monthly winner will then be selected from the weekly winners with their image appearing in the pages of The Times T2 on a Monday.
At the end of the competition, each of the weekly winners’ photographs will be displayed at a London gallery, where a panel of judges will vote for the overall winner. He or she will be named Camera Phone Photographer of the Year and will win a day with one of The Times’ top photographers as well as an all expenses paid trip to a European destination to capture their very own news-based pictures.
Full information about the competition is available at www.timesonline.co.uk
