For manual control Canon’s A570 IS is hard to beat, with fantastic picture quality and an above-average zoom range.

The 7.1-megapixel Canon PowerShot A570 IS features image stabilisation and full manual control.
Feature Set
The A570IS features the same 4x optical zoom (35-140mm equivalent) seen in previous PowerShot models, but is now coupled with Optical Image Stabilisation. As with the A560 model, the same 80-1600 ISO range has been included but rather disappointingly so has the 115,000 pixel resolution of the LCD screen. Perhaps this isn’t seen as a huge priority as an alternative exists within the viewfinder, but a resolution closer to 200,000 pixels is pretty much standard on similar models.
Handling
Handling has always been a key consideration within the range, and while the mode dial seems a little stiff – which is unnecessary as it’s embedded within the top plate, and so harder to switch accidentally – the menu pad and additional buttons are better spaced out than on the A560.
Image Quality

It’s in its images where the camera really shines, producing well-exposed ‘clean’ photos that are both sharp and contain masses of detail. Not only that, but noise is minimal and metering is sound.
