Olympus has added two newcomers to the Mju range in the form of the TOUGH-8010 and TOUGH-6020 compacts. Both offer a 14MP sensor and 5x optical zoom as well as an impressive amount of internal memory.
Olympus has virtually cornered the market in the all-action camera sector, with a host of models available as well as a memorable ad campaign. All the more important is that the cameras actual perform as the marketing suggests, absorbing a huge amount of impact and surviving further watery depths than most rivals. Whether these models manage to perform well beyond the up to 10m waterproofing and up to 2m shockproofing remains to be seen, but with 2GB of internal storage on the TOUGH-8010 and 1GB on the TOUGH-6020 Olympus look to be moving toward a sealed unit to prevent potential dust particles infiltrating.
