Nikon has announced two new compact cameras offering slim bodies and a high optical zoom. The Nikon COOLPIX S6200 and Nikon COOLPIX S8200 both feature 16MP CMOS sensors, with the former containing a 14x optical zoom lens and the latter a 10x optical zoom lens.

The two models also differ outside of the zoom, with the S8200 being capable of shooting movies in 1080p as opposed to 720p. The S8200 is also marginally larger all round, but this facilitates a 3″ LCD as opposed to the 2.7″ version on the S6200.

ISO range on the pair stops at 3200, and both boast Lens Shift Vibration Reduction to reduce softness from motion blur. The S8200 has the added bonus of both an 8fps burst mode and 120fps video mode at reduced quality.

Both compacts will be available on the 22nd of September, with the prices at £179 for the S6200 and £279 for the S8200.
