Fujifilm launches Fujinon XF10-24mm F4 R OIS

Fuji's new FX lens is a wide-angle 2.4x zoom with a seven-blade aperture diaphragm and Fujifilm's multi-layer coating that minimises ghosting

Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS

The new Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens, announced today by Fujifilm, is compatible with all Fujifilm X mount compact system cameras.

Equivalent to 15-36mm in 35mm format, the new Fujinon XF lens features a constant aperture of f/4 throughout its entire focal range.

The addition of this new lens expands the 35mm equivalent focal range of the entire X mount lens series to 15-350mm.

Fujifilm says it has a newly designed optical system, with four high-precision aspherical lenses and three extra low dispersion glass lenses.

The 10-24mm lens also boasts Optical Image Stablisation (OIS) and Fujifilm's HT-EBC multi-layer coating to minimise ghosting. Its seven-blade aperture diaphragm allows for creation of smooth bokeh.

It also takes advantage of the Lens Modulation Optimiser function that comes on some of Fuji's X-series cameras like the X100S. This uses the power of the EXR Processor II to reduce optical effects such as image diffraction.

The minimum working distance of the Fujinon Xf 10-24mm is 24cm. It achieves high-speed AF thanks to an inner focusing system that drives smaller lenses in the middle and rear groups without moving the larger lenses in the front groups. It also features a stepping motor.

The Fujinon XF 10-24mm will be on sale from March 2014, priced at £849.99.
