APS-C removable lens camera to hit market ‘second half of 2009’

Samsung has announced plans for a removable lens camera featuring an APS-C sensor in a similar vein to the Micro Four Thirds system.

The NX system will be roughly 60% smaller than traditional DSLRs, thanks to engineering that has removed the mirror box from the model, and instead replaced it with an electronic viewfinder.

“We see the hybrid digital camera market will be over 20% of the global digital still camera market by 2012.” said Sang-jin Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company.

The first model of the NX series will debut in the second half of 2009, with a full range of NX compatible lenses to be announced on launch
