A book that gets into the mind of modern contemporary photographers
Title: Image Makers, Image Takers: The Essential Guide to Photography by Those in the Know
Author: Anne-Celine Jaeger
Publisher: Thames & Hudson Ltd
Review: The merits of contemporary photography is a subject often debated, so it’s refreshing to come across a book whose main characteristic is that every featured photographer’s work is accompanied by an extensive interview. With the photographers’ backgrounds and working practices covered, and indeed an interesting selection of photographers included, the book’s target market is greatly broadened. Though focused primarily on recent works, many established names such as Martin Parr, William Eggleston and Anton Corbijn feature, adding their voices to the pool of discussion with their views expressed on photographic philosophy, orthodox means of capture as well as the motivations for their work.
