The 12-megapixel General Imaging GE 1235 compact digital camera sports a 3x zoom and 2.5cmLCD screen, but has little else going for it.
GE 1235 Review
Line Topping Model
It may be relatively new to the market, but General Imaging has already launched 14 compacts, with more on the way. The E1235 currently sits at the top of the tree, and features a host of technologies.
Features
Sensitivity stretches to ISO 1600 in standard mode and 3200 in a 3MP resolution, while the usual assortment of scene, panorama and movie modes complete its spec. A 2.7in LCD adorns the rear, with a large mode dial and menu pad situated to the right-hand side making for a simple and uncluttered design.
Performance and Image Quality
Performance doesn’t quite match this, though, with a noisy AF system and fiddly zoom button, compounded by slow operational speeds throughout. With images, fringing is terribly controlled and images are soft. Detail is poorly resolved, while even flash exposures show chroma noise.
Verdict
Disappointing performance and poor image quality make the GE 1235 a camera to avoid.
