Tokina has announced that its popular wide-angle AT-X lens will be available for Sony Alpha-mount starting next year
Tokina’s AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8 type-II lens will be available for Sony’s A-mount cameras from January 2014, the firm has announced.
The lens is the successor to the popular AT-X 116 PRO DX, 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, the main update to which was the addition of a silent internal focusing motor for Nikon mount, allowing use of AF with Nikon cameras that lack their own AF motors. Tokina also made some minor refinements to the lens’s coating.
The AT-X 116 PRO DX-II has a constant aperture of f/2.8, two Super-Low Dispersion glass elements and two aspheric glass elements. It also comes with Tokina’s One-Touch Focus Clutch mechanism, which allows the user to switch between AF and MF by flicking the focus ring forwards and backwards.
Precise release dates and prices are yet to be announced.
