New Sony Exmor R sensor offers huge burst rate at full resolution for future camera
Sony has released details of a new sensor that’s capable of shooting up to an impressive 42 frames per second at 12MP. This would far exceed current highest shooting rates at the 1/2.3inch sensor size, which equates to those in an average compact camera.
As a number of models have shown in the past the amount of images capable of being taken continuously by a camera doesn’t necessarily mean all the images will be in focus or well exposed. These elements are more centered around the likes of lens quality and metering, as well as processing and user ability.
The CMOS sensor is also able to shoot HD video at the full 1080 resolution and is backlit for improved low light/high speed performance.
More information on the sensor can be found on Sony’s website.
