Sony has announced the development new camera technology that allows 240fps 3D capture within a single lens system.

The system captures left and right images simultaneously through a single lens to provide natural, smooth and high-quality images.

The new system is set to be displayed in a prototype form at the forthcoming CEATEC Japan 2009 exhibition. One of the perks of the system is that images appear in standard 2D if not viewed with specialised glasses, making the appeal somewhat more universal.
