Samsung has unveiled a new range of digital cameras to underline its new vision of the future. Dubbed NV ? short for New View ? the fresh line up is made up of a trio of multimedia digital cameras, the NV3, NV7 and NV10.
The NV series was developed following a two-year consumer research study into the lifestyle of consumers and their shooting patterns. The result is a range that offers a highly stylised ?blue ring? body design and a firmer emphasis on standout specifications and multi-media functionality.

NV3
Kicking off the range is the NV3, a black stainless steel compact with a 7.2MP 1/2.5? CCD, ASR shake reduction and 3x optical zoom. As well as imaging functions, the camera incorporates an MP3 player, voice recorder, text viewer, multimedia player and camcorder functionality.
A new audio chip that delivers 3D, Jazz, Rock and other sound effects powers the MP3 player. As a portable multimedia player, the NV3 can also be connected to an external speaker for improved sound. On the video front, the NV3 is able to record MPEG-4 TVD (720×480) 20fps and VGA (640×480) video files.

NV7 OPS
Next of the blocks is a more traditional compact camera in the shape of the NV7. Key specifications include a 7.2MP CCD, 7x optical zoom, OPS (Optical Picture Stabilization) technology and enhanced low light functionality.
NV7 is a response to what Samsung is dubbing its consumers desire for ?a more advanced photographic experience?, and incorporates not only OPS but also Samsung?s ASR shake reduction system for double anti-shake protection.
The camera is also one of the first models to incorporate Samsung?s new user interface concept, Smart Touch. In a break with tradition, the rear of the camera features two rows of buttons across the length and breath of the LCD screen. This feature enables users to run their fingers across the button rows to scroll quickly through on-screen menus and options.
Furthermore, the NV7 OPS supports TV quality MPEG4 VGA 30fps video, a Photo Gallery function and a duo of charging options that enable users to choose from USB energising or traditional battery charging equipment.

NV10
Heading up the NV range is the NV10, a slim line lifestyle compact with a 10MP 1/1.8? CCD and 3x optical zoom. The camera is encased in a 18.5mm thin black aluminium body and features a 2.5? wide-view LCD, a Smart Touch interface and ASR technology. Like its new stable mates, the NV10 offers a duo of charging options, MPEG4 VGA 30fps video and a Photo Gallery playback function.

Announcing the launch – which Samsung hopes will help it become worldwide market leader by 2009 ? Samsung?s President and CEO Joong Koo Lee said, ?The NV project was developed in direct response to customers’ needs and we believe it will meet the demands of increasingly sophisticated digital camera consumer.”
The cameras will start to ship at the end of August and prices will be confirmed later this summer. Full details of the NV range can be found at www.samsung.co.uk
