Popstar Lady Gaga's 'Grey' Polaroid camera is set to be launched at CES
Last year at CES Polaroid made an announcement that they would be partnering with Lady Gaga as their ‘creative director’ and tomorrow they will unveil the results.
After Polaroid had to shut down in 2008 this new launch will potentially set the place of instant photos in the market once again. The collaboration with Lady Gaga comes at a time when enthusiasm for Polaroid-style products is growing – with Lomo cameras offering retro-styled instant film pictures, and Apple iPhone/iPad apps like Hipstamatic and Instagram using the Polaroid aesthetic.
Polaroid is teasing what appears to be Gaga’s new camera with an image on its homepage under the heading ‘Grey Revealed’. They’re offering no more details of the device, but say ‘this year is all about the New Polaroid Instant Experience’ and mention the camera will be launched Thursday at 11.30pm, UK time.
At last year’s CES announcement (when the camera was originally planned to be launched) Lady Gaga described it as “finally getting a real job”. The 24 year-old singer said, ‘The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of
fashion/technology /photography, blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era.’
