Philips is looking to liberate more of your digital photos with the release of its new 9-inch PhotoFrame.

Having made the correct assumption that the majority of photos taken never make it beyond the hard-drive, Philips has produced a new digital photo frame for the digital photographer.

Images can be stored on the Photo Frame?s internal memory by either connecting it to a PC or digital camera via USB, or alternatively straight from a range of memory card format?s supported by an inbuilt memory card slot.

The device can be orientated either horizontally or vertically, with onboard software automatically adjusting images to either portrait or landscape accordingly. The frame also allows the user to create and manage albums and apply various effects to slideshows.

The 9-inch PhotoFrame is available in two models; the silver and translucent 9FF2M4 (available now for an expected street price of £200), and the wood finish 9FF2CWO (also available now for an expected street price of £179

February 7, 2007, London, England ? Philips has an even bigger and better way to display all of your digital photos with the new 9-inch versions of the Digital Photo Display ? the contemporary 9FF2M4 and wood-finish 9FF2CWO. There?s now no excuse for leaving your photos hidden away on your PC or in your digital camera, as they can all be seen individually, as thumbnails or in a dynamic slideshow – and all in stunning quality, thanks to the new high-resolution screen.

Digital photography ? whether on digital cameras, mobile phones, PDA?s or webcams – has enjoyed an explosive growth in popularity and yet, despite the millions of extra photos being taken, Philips estimates only 20% will ever be printed while up to 80% will remain buried away.

The Philips 9-inch Digital Photo Display provides the ideal solution. Images are stored on the displays internal memory by connecting to a PC or digital camera via USB or can alternatively be downloaded directly from various memory card formats (SD, MMC, Memory Stick, compact flash) thanks to the built-in memory card slot.

The device can be used either horizontally or vertically with photos automatically adjusted to suit either portrait or landscape options. Individual images can be shown permanently or for a fixed period of time or as part of a slide show. The display can also be programmed to turn on or off when required courtesy of the on/off timer facility. Significantly, to maximise the high definition capability of the screen and ensure photos are viewed in best-possible light, brightness levels are adjusted automatically to suit ambient conditions.

The display also boasts advanced Smart Album software. This exclusive software helps users create and manage albums and set-up, adjust and add transition effects to photo slideshows.

In addition, the PhotoFrame?s PhotoEffect Wizard provides users the opportunity to create simple and easy photo effects including image rotation, zoom, cropping, colour effects (black and white or sepia) and fun frames.

The 9FF2M4 has a stylish design that incorporates a sliver and translucent frame to enhance the impact of on-screen images and ensure the Digital Photo Frame blends effortlessly into any home or office environment. Furthermore interchangeable red, black and silver frames are supplied to suit your personal taste and décor. Yet, for those that desire a more traditional design, the 9FF2CWO features an elegant wood finish that seamlessly blends with any interior.
