Nikon continued a busy day of announcements with the addition of the new COOLPIX S6900 – a model which they claim will deliver ‘perfect self-portraits every time’.

Somewhat understandably the headline feature of the new compact is the vari-angle LCD screen. The 3in touch-panel can be manoeuvred in to a variety of angles to give you the best chance possible of capturing your finest pose.

The S6900 also benefits from an in-built camera stand for extra stability when selfie shooting, while Gesture Control allows for shutter release and movie recording with a wave of the hand.

The compact even features a ‘Glamour’ mode which offers instant retouching in a range of complexion enhancing presets.

Once you’d got your perfect selfie ready to share, the S6900 makes that process simple as well thanks to the presence of Wi-fi and NFC technology.

There’s no news on when the S6900 will be available or a suggested retail price, but we can tell you the camera will be available in black and white.
