Leica?s latest digital compact, the D-Lux 2, features an 8.4MP CCD, 4x optical zoom and optical image stabilisation.
Constructed from aluminium, the camera?s Leica DC Vario-Elmarit f/2.8-4.9 ASPH lens has a focal length of 28-112 mm (35mm equivalence), offering wide and telephoto shooting capability. Macro shooting is possible from as close as 5cm at wideangle and 30cm at telephoto.
Designed to produce sharp pictures in low-light conditions at telephoto, the optical image stabiliser (OIS) reduces the effect of camera shake. Pictures can be taken in three formats: 16:9 (for High Definition TV viewing), 3:2 and 4:3 and recorded in RAW, TIFF or JPEG file formats.
The 2.5in LCD screen is composed of 207,000 pixels and, in addition to program, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual exposure modes, the D-Lux 2 has 14 scene modes including Portrait, Night-time landscape, Party, Snow, Food, Baby and Soft for skin.
Metering options include multi-field, sport and centre-weighted integral, and shutter speeds range from 60-1/2000 sec. Other features include USB 2.0 transfer, PictBridge compatibility and Digiscoping with the new Digital Adapter 2 (£138).
The Leica D-Lux 2 will be available at the end of November for £548. Find out more at www.leica-camera.com or by calling 01908 666663.
