Tamron's huge telephoto gets a release date

Tamron's 150-600mm ultra-telephoto lens has got release dates for Japan and the USA, though still no word on pricing

Tamron 150-600mm

Tamron has announced that its SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD will be released on December 19 in Japan and January 17 in the US for Nikon F, Canon EF and Sony Alpha mounts.

Designed for full-frame and APS-C format DSLRs, the ultra-telephoto lens features Vibration Compensation, Image Stabilisation, Ultrasonic Silent Drive for AF, and eBAND (Extended Bandwidth and Angular Dependency) Coating to reduce flare and ghosting.

It has a maximum aperture of f/5-6.3 and employs 20 elements in 13 groups for sharp, clear image quality. The 9-blade cicular diaphragm allows for creation of creative bokeh, and the lens also boasts a redesigned tripod mount

One thing to note is that the Sony Alpha version will not feature built in Vibration Compensation, relying instead on the in-built image stabilisation on Sony cameras. For this reason, the proper name for the Sony Alpha version of the lens is the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di USD (Model A011), without the VC designation.

A UK release date for the Tamron 150-600mm is yet to be announced, as is pricing information.
