The Panasonic Lumix TZ – or ‘Travel Zoom’ – range is one of the most established of its type in what is a crowded marketplace. In fact, it could well be argued that Panasonic in fact invented the travel compact market back in 2006 with the launch of the TZ1.
Spin forward 8 years and you arrive at the TZ70 – the latest offering in the long line of impressive models.
The latest edition looks set to build on the success of its predecessor – the TZ60 – with several key improvements. The most noticeable of these sets it quite apart from a lot of other compact camera insofar as it sees a drop in the resolution of the camera’s sensor rather than an increase.
The implications for image quality of such a move are clear, although the foremost of these is hopefully and improvement in the way that noise is controlled at higher ISO settings.
We recently received our review unit of the TZ70 in to the office, and ahead of our full test we took the opportunity to get out and about in London and put the model to the early test.
