Canon Europe has today released a statement regarding the focusing problems affecting some models of its EOS ID Mark III DSLR.

Since its release in May this year, users of the model have reported problems with the AI Servo continuous shooting mode, a problem further exacerbated in high temperatures. The cause of this has now been found to be ?an adjustment problem with the mirror for AF.? This affects the way autofocus tracking is carried out when using the aforementioned mode, which predicts the position of a moving subject to ascertain correct focus.

Canon has stated that models likely to have been affected would have a serial number between 501001 and 546561, and that preparations are under way for free repairs of affected models starting from late November.
