Look around your home

You'll find interesting subjects for still life photos all over your home; you just have to look at them a bit differently. Old antiques, kitchen and bathroom items and even food can all make good pictures.

Look around your garden

Fallen leaves, bits of bark, plants, pebbles and toadstools are among the many potential subjects you'll find close to home if you look. 

Use a tripod

For sharp images and precise compositions a tripod is a must.

Be creative with light

Remember you can use anything as a light source, from a torch to a window - you don't need pro lights.

Collect backgrounds

Look for good potential backgrounds: for example, black velvet, white fabric, slate, driftwood.
