Pentax has introduced a lightweight wideangle lens for use with its *ist D range of digital SLR cameras.
Providing a view from 99 to 61°, equivalent to 18.5-37mm in a 35mm camera, the wideangle lens is constructed from 13 elements in 11 groups, accurate image quality is promised thanks to an Extra-low (ED) dispersion element and two aspherical elements.
With optics designed specifically for use with digital photography its 23.5×15.7mm image circle is designed specifically to fit the image sensor of digital SLRs, ensuring it is more lightweight than lenses used in film SLRs.
Offering a minimum focusing distance of 30cm, the lens also features Pentax?s Quick-Shift Focus System and features a metallic lens mount.
