Panasonic has released details about its new clamshell camera phone, the VS2, boasting a host innovative features
At 2.2 inches, the screen can display up to 16 million colours and is 50% brighter than any other handset on the market (at 300 candela/m2.) to enhance visual quality, with games, images and video clips.
Weighing 98g and with a diameter of 18.2mm, the V2 incorporates a 1.3MP camera phone for shooting movies and still images, with the addition of macro mode for close-up shots. Along with zooming and editing capabilities, the VS2 has a multiple-shot feature enabling the user to take 15 shots in two seconds.
Graham Carter from Panasonic Mobile says: ‘The VS2 features some of the most advanced technology in the mobile market and is a significant part of Panasonic’s 2005 product line-up. It contains advanced screen technology giving our customers a truly colourful mobile experience.’
Other interesting features include an auto open button and messaging illumination that tells the user the mood of a received message by flashing different colours and patterns.
Panasonic appears to be aiming the VS2 at mobile gamers, with the inclusion of the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, an exact conversion from the Mega-Drive. It also features 40 polyphonic ring tones, Real Audio, and Java for downloading.
