Nikon’s range of digital compacts is set to get a new slim line addition; the Coolpix S1 offers 5 million pixels and is available in three colours: Pure Silver, Ivory White and Ebony Black.
The S1 includes a 3x optical Nikkor ED lens with a focal length of 35 ? 105mm (35mm equivalent), which is entirely contained within the 19.7mm deep aluminium body, ensuring the S1 doesn?t have any protrusions.
Pictures can be reviewed on the large 2.5-inch LCD, which is composed of 110,000 pixels, to deliver a clear view. The S1 is powered by a lithium-ion EN-EL8 battery, which can capture 200 pictures from a single charge (to CIPA standard.)
Nikon’s D-Lighting function is designed to rectify images that are underexposed or backlit, Red-Eye Fix locates and removes red-eye, and Blur Warning advises on potential camera shake. The S1 offers a continuous shooting rate of up to 1.8 frames per second.
A total of 17 scene modes feature on the camera, including four with Nikon?s Scene Assist function, and a new underwater mode enables the camera to be used in water up to 40 metres deep when used in conjunction with the new WP-CP5 housing.
The Coolpix S1 is available now for £279.99. The Ebony black edition is a Dixons exclusive and the WP-CP5 housing will retail at £149.99.
