Memory Stick Micro is a new ultra-small memory card designed for use in mobile phones that has been developed by Sony and SanDisk.
With dimensions of 15×12.5×1.2mm, Memory Stick Micro is a quarter of the size of Memory Stick PRO Duo card and will work with devices that operate at 1.8-volts and 3.3-volts. To reduce space the edges are slotted lengthways, enabling slim-line design connectors to be used, while an adaptor ensures it can be used with Memory Stick PRO compatible products.
Dr Eli Harari from SanDisk comments: ?Sony and SanDisk recognize the rapidly growing market opportunity for memory cards with multimedia mobile phones, and are joining forces to develop the ultra-small Memory Stick Micro format to foster development of extremely compact multimedia mobile phones.?
Memory Stick Micro will be available in 2006, for more information log onto www.sandisk.com.
