Canon has boosted its PowerShot range with the A700, A540, A530 and A430.
The A700 and A540 both feature 6MP CCDs. The A700 includes a 6x (35-210mm) optical zoom, while the A540 features a 4x (35-140mm) optical zoom. The versatility of the lens can be extended with optional Wide (0.7x) and Tele (1.75x) converters.
For low-light shooting, both compacts can attain a high sensitivity of ISO 800, while the DIGIC II processor is designed to reduce noise.
A total of 19 shooting modes feature on the flagship A700, and 20 on the A540. Alongside pre-set scene modes are Manual, Aperture priority and Shutter priority modes.
Both cameras are capable of capturing 30fps VGA movies and 60fps QVGA movies. Compact mode can capture short 3minute clips that can be sent by email. Other features include: Widescreen 16:9 mode, Print/Share button, 9-point AIAF and 2.5in LCD.
Described as ?fun, easy and affordable,? the PowerShot A430 has a 4MP CCD and 3.2x optical zoom. It also includes 15 shooting modes, 9-point AiAF and VGA movie modes.
The PowerShot A530 has a 5MP CCD, 4x optical zoom and 17 shooting modes. It can attain ISO 800 for low-light shooting, and can capture VGA movies.
