Two new picture storage viewer devices are to be launched by Epson. The P3000 and P5000 offer larger capacities and LCD screens than their predecessors and feature Epson Photo Fine Ultra technology for improved image definition.
The P3000 features a 4inch (640 x 480) LCD viewer with Epson Photo Fine Ultra technology, 40GB storage space and the ability to play back video files as well as images. Epson is additionally promising an extended battery life and the world?s first four-colour filter system for improved image quality and colour gamut. This filter system uses red, blue, emerald green and yellow green to enable colours to be reproduced at a more natural level than traditional systems that only use red, green and blue (RGB) filters.
The 40GB storage capacity allows storage of up to 2,300 RAW files, while transfer speeds are quoted as 155secs per GB from a CompactFlash card. In addition to JPEG and RAW files, the P3000 can store MP3, AAC and WMA formats for music and DiVX, MPEG 1/2/4, AVC, WMV9 and Motion JPEG formats for videos. With editing capabilities, users can also change music order and edit play lists at the touch of a button.
The P5000 viewer meanwhile, adds to the features above with 80GB disc space, the ability to view image metadata and support for xvYCC video colour space. Users can additionally zoom into photos up to 400%.
