In partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry, ICI is sponsoring a photography competition to celebrate Chemistry Week.
Launched by Science Minister Lord Sainsbury, Chemistry Week took placed between 4th ?13th November; this year?s theme ?Know Chemistry? ?examining how chemistry enhances our daily lives and encouraging us to realise what life would be like with no chemistry?.
Open to schools and colleges and the general public, the aim of the photographic competition is to show what impact chemistry has had on our lives since it first appeared in the Oxford Dictionary 400 years ago.
First prize in the schools category is an OP610 Photo factory printer and media set worth more than £2000, while the runner up gets Olmec inkjet photo paper worth £25.
The general public can enter in two categories: adults (19 and over) and young people (under 18?s). First prize is a digital camera and the runner up will win Olmec inkjet photo paper worth £25 and Chemistry Week accessories.
Entrants need to submit a photo showing the difference chemistry has made to our lives or that illustrate life without chemistry. Each entry needs to include a caption, explaining the connection to chemistry.
