Canon updates IXUS 'HS' range with new IXUS 220 HS and IXUS 115 HS models

Canon has strengthened its pocket compact range with the arrival of the IXUS 220 HS and 115 HS, with both featuring a 12.MP CMOS sensor.

The IXUS 220 HS is the smallest Canon compact yet to features full HD video capture at 1080p, while the IXUS 115 HS also boosts the same recording resolution.

Coverage from the IXUS 220 HS is a 5x optical zoom (24-120mm), while there’s a 2.7in PureColor II G LCD screen at the rear of the camera with a 230k-dot resolution. The IXUS 115 HS on the other hand features a slightly larger 3in screen with the same resolution and a 4x optical zoom ranging from 28-112mm.

A stainless steel body, weighing in at 141g, complements the small 92x56x19.5mm proportions of the IXUS 220 HS, while the marginally larger IXUS 115 HS also benefits from a metal body.

Both cameras offer Smart Auto, detecting up to 32 different shooting scenes, taking care of the exposure for you.

The IXUS 220 HS will be available later this month, priced at £199, while the IXUS 115 HS should be available a little sooner, priced at £179.
