Sigma has announced the pricing and availability of three of its newest lenses - the 19 mm F2.8 DN (£189.99), 30mm F2.8 DN (£189.99) and 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM (£499.99).
Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN & Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN
The Sigma 19 mm F2.8 DN and the Sigma 30 mm F2.8 DN have three glass mold aspherical lenses, which provide excellent correction for distortion and field curvature. The inner focusing system corrects aberration to maintain image quality regardless of the focusing position, whilst the superior telecentric optical design improves the image quality throughout the frame.
Both lenses benefit from the accurate and quiet autofocus of the linear AF motor which moves the lens unit without the need for gears or other extra mechanical parts. This makes the lens excellent for both recording video and taking still photos. In addition the lenses have an 7 blade rounded diaphragm incorporated (which creates an attractive round bokeh at large-aperture settings) alongside a brass made bayonet mount which has both high accuracy and durability. In addition, photographers have the choice of black or silver to match their favourite equipment.
The Sigma 19 mm F2.8 DN lens features a minimum focusing distance of 20cm and a maximum magnification of 1:7.4. It also comes with a case, lens hood (LH520-03) and will be available in the Micro Four Thirds and Sony E mounts from the end of March.
The Sigma 30 mm F2.8 DN has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm and a maximum magnification of 1:8.1. The lens is inspired by the optical design of the Sigma DP2 Merrill, the high image quality compact digital camera incorporates the 46 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor. Supplied with a case and lens hood (LH520-03) the lens will be available from the end of March much like the Sigma 19 mm F2.8 DN.Sigma 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM
The Sigma 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM has a large-aperture APS-C format standard lens, which delivers the highest level of image quality worthy of the Art line.
Featuring a large-aperture standard lens with an angle of view equivalent to 45mm on a 35mm camera, the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM is a superb go-to lens for artistic photography on an APS-C format digital SLR. It offers a bright F1.4 aperture and an angle of view extremely close to that of human vision alongside a bright viewfinder, which aids focusing, and composition of images.
The Sigma 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM has outstanding optical performance in order to fully perform its best expressive quality at all shooting distances. The use of a double aspheric lens minimises spherical distortion, astigmatism and coma, whilst the optimised power distribution minimizes field curvature thereby preventing a loss of image quality at the edges of photographs. Furthermore, since the front of the lens does not rotate, polarizing filters can be used with extra convenience.
Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating also reduces flare and ghosting, and provides sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm and a maximum magnification of 1:6.8, making it excellent for close-up photography.
The 9 blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive round bokeh at large-aperture settings, whilst the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures a silent, high-speed AF function. It also features a newly developed "USB dock" exclusively for new product lines, which allows users to update the lens firmware and adjust parameters such as focus.
The Sigma 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM comes with a case and petal type lens (LH686-01) hood supplied. It will also be available in the following AF mounts: Canon, towards the end of March, Sigma, early April and Nikon which will be announced at a later date.
