Sigma USB dock first look
- Fri, 21 Sep 2012
One of the very intriguing releases at Photokina 2012 was Sigma's announcement of an all-new USB lens dock. Designed for use with specially developed software that's called Sigma Optimisation Pro, the USB lens dock gives users the option of connecting their lenses to a PC or Mac before fine-tuning and adjusting parameters to suit their own personal preferences.
As well as being able to quicken the speed of AF performance (albeit at the compromise of smoothness), the USB dock is also capable of slowing down the speed of autofocus performance. If you're wondering why you might want to do this, it could be a useful option for videographers that desire a smoother and more leisurely lock-on speed. Tailored for hobbyists and professionals, the USB dock will also give users the chance to optimise optical stabilisation, limit the maximum and minimum focus distance and upgrade easily with the latest firmware updates that are provided.
Price of the USB lens dock is yet to be confirmed, however it'll be exclusive to Sigma's new product lines and won't be compatible with existing Sigma lenses.
