Over 20 million EOS digital models included

Canon has announced the production of its 40 millionth EOS series SLR camera.

The EOS series, or Electro Optical System to give it its full title, was first introduced in 1987, and has seen several groundbreaking advances in technology.

Demand, and therefore production, has increased rapidly over the past few years, with the period between the 30 millionth and 40 millionth SLR produced being just two years and four months.

Canon also reached a significant landmark in its production of EF series lenses last year, with the manufacturer churning out its 50 millionth unit.
