Leading photographers unite in a new photography exhibition to raise money to combat childhood blindness in developing countries. Love at First Sight comprises 56 photographs celebrating vision, which will be auctioned to help raise £100,000 towards blindness prevention charity ORBIS. Taking place at Bonhams auction house, 101 New Bond Street, on Monday January 23rd, the exhibition will be open from 12-4.20pm, during which time visitors are invited to make silent bids. Rankin, Bob Carlos-Clarke, Richard Young, John Swannell and Yann Artus-Bertrand are some of the world-renowned photographers who have contributed rare and limited-edition prints to the exhibition. Richard Young comments: ‘I am very privileged to have been able to use my eyes to build a career and the thought of a child not being able to have their sight is one of the saddest things I can imagine.’ The exhibition was conceived by Isobel, Countess of Strathmore and all money raised will help ORBIS provide training and equipment for eye-care professionals in the developing world, in order to help prevent and treat childhood blindness.
