Epson unveils printing duo

The R340 and R240 are new additions to Epson’s Stylus series of printers incorporating new PhotoEnhance technology

The R340 and R240 are new additions to Epson’s Stylus series of printers incorporating new PhotoEnhance technology
Described as ‘the highest quality photo printer in its class’, the Stylus Photo R340 is an A4 printer with an optimised resolution of 5760x1440 dpi, with droplets 3pl in size. Print speeds are less than a minute for a 6x4in print and six ink cartridges can be replaced individually for cost efficiency.
A 2.4in colour LCD can be used for previewing and cropping pictures, adding filters, making adjustments to brightness, saturation and contrast and choosing from a range of selectable print layouts. There is also the option to produce CD and DVD inlay cards.
Incorporated into the R340 is a card reader that is compatible with all the major memory card formats, and PictBridge support enables prints to be obtained from a digital camera or from a mobile phone (with an optional adaptor.)
Aimed at novice users with limited experience of photo-editing software, PhotoEnhance technology is included with the R340. The software makes automatic enhancements to the colour reproduction depending on the type of photo; brightening the skin tones and reducing the contrast of a portrait picture, while increasing the contrast and saturating the colour of a landscape scene.
The Stylus Photo R240 is aimed at inexperienced users, producing prints without the need for a computer from all the major memory cards, including: xD-Picture, CompactFlash, Secure Digital and Memory Stick or from a Pictbridge-enabled digital camera.
Epson’s Micro Piezo technology produces prints with an optimised resolution of 5760x1440dpi, with droplets 2pl in size. The R240 can produce a 6x4in print in 47 seconds, printing 24 borderless prints in 20 minutes. A4 print speeds are 20ppm in mono and 19ppm in colour.
Pictures can be reviewed and selected for printing using the colour 1.5in LCD screen, while PhotoEnhance technology makes automatic tonal adjustments depending on the subject of the photograph.
Both printers are supplied with the Epson Creativity Suite, which can be used for adjusting the resolution and image size, attaching pictures to email and printing web pages.
The Epson Stylus R340 will retail for £149 and the R240 costs £99. Find out more at www.epson.co.uk or by calling 0800 220546.
