Adobe and Macromedia have announced that they have received clearance from the US Department of Justice for Adobe to acquire Macromedia. The move follows news we brought you in May stating that Adobe was set to acquire Macromedia for $3.4 billion. The deal should be finalised this autumn, subject to approval in some European jurisdictions. With programs such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and InDesign, Adobe dominates the digital imaging and desktop publishing market, while Macromedia has a strong presence in the web-design industry with products such as Dreamweaver and Flash MX.
