I have one of these, specifically to carry around all the time where a DSLR is too big and bulky. I recently did some hiking, and the images from the TX5 really surprised me with their clarity, colour and sharpness. I found that you do need to get used to the interface, and the quirks of a very wide angle, and the distortion that creates in close up objects, but specifically for landscapes - it will take a lot to beat this little guy! The Panorama shot is especially handy!

Thanks to the compact size of TX-5, I am used to carrying mine at anytime. Its "handheld Twilight" mode is the most admirable. I could take splendid night scene pics even w/o a tripod. The sharpness & the colour revealation is also a merit of TX-5. To have a water-proof DC at this price level is quite acceptable. Generally speaking, TX-5 is a excellent DC that I would recommend to my friends.
