Bryan Peterson’s Understanding Photography Field Guide is aimed at giving the advancing photographer the tools to utilise the manual mode on their DSLR, CSC or compact camera.
Understanding photography field guide
By presenting the finer parts of photography in an anecdotal form the text takes a touch longer to get through than a series of tips, but gives an excellent base level of knowledge to work from. Describing ISO, Peterson equates ‘worker bees carry[ing] light to the sensor’, with a ISO 100 having 100 worker bees and so forth.
This illustrative form of text will aid the beginner, but a lack of camera images showing where the settings might be, correct posture etc., is a touch confusing. Overall a decent book that’ll give the new DSLR owner something to chew on.
