Samsung 54PZF
Owners of Samsung DSLR cameras are well served by a pair of on-camera flash units, of which the 54PZF is the most powerful. Featuring a GN of 54m@ ISO100, the unit is one of the most powerful available and has a host of top-notch features.
Output is controlled via Auto, Program TTL and manual, which allows incremental output down to 1/64 of the power. The flash also has an automatic zooming head, covering 16mm to 58mm, with a pull-out wideangle diffuser in the head extending the wide coverage to 13mm.
A choice of first- and second-curtain synchronisation is available, as well as High Speed flash for faster shutter speeds, Wireless capability is also included.
The flash works well, with a good quality of light, though the coverage tends to fall a bit short, with some vignetting in the corners. In daylight it provides good coverage, and colour is well balanced.
Verdict
The 54PZF is a top-of-the-range and well-specified flash unit, that complements the build quality of Samsung’s GX10.
