If you’ve used the standard camera on the iPhone before, it’s fair to say that it can be a bit limiting and sluggish. With the Camera+ App, it’s takes the camera up a notch or two, making it a much more realistic alternative to a compact camera.
On the shooting side of things, the app offers Touch Exposure and Focus (iPhone 4 and 3GS only), Grid lines to aid composition, a 6x digital zoom and a handful of shooting modes – these include a Stabiliser for reduce shake, a self-timer and a burst mode (though at a reduced resolution)
You can then organise your images from the Lightbox, selecting the images you want to edit, and there are some pretty hand tools at your disposal. The most notable one is Clarity – one click, and the image has much more punch and contrast, though it doesn’t look over-processed. There are also a bunch of Scene modes that you can apply – including Backlit, Portrait and Sunset, while the image can be cropped in a range of ways, borders added and plethora of special effects applied.
Images can then be saved and shared on Flickr, Facebook and Twitter if you wish.
If you’ve got an iPhone, then Camera+ is definitely worth downloading – it makes the whole experience of taking pics with your phone that much more rewarding for a photographer.
