Samsung L77 Review
Samsung seems to be shifting its compact range from the conventional silver chassis to the stylish black and blue models, and the 7MP, 7x optical zoom L77 continues this trend.
The 7MP sensor is adequate, its 2.5in LCD screen is clear and its 7x optical zoom lens useful. However, the usability seems to be targeted at those wanting a style compact rather than a serious one. For example, image capture is handled through either a basic program mode or 11 scene modes. Rather than concentrate on useful extra features, the L77 comes complete with a limited set of ‘fun’ options of either composite shooting or a range of ‘photo frames’ that might appeal to a four-year-old.
Shot-to-shot speed and start-up times are both prompt, and the reviewing of images is quick. Images are swamped with fringing, though, with unseemly purple highlights featuring in abundance.
Verdict
A design-driven compact with limited usability and poor image quality.
