Cameras such as the 10-megapixel BenQ E1000, with shake-reduction and full manual mode no less, may have set you back more than £200 just a year ago. Now owning a stylish compact with said functionality is possible at just a little over £100.

Looks Aren’t Everything

The E1000 is a design-heavy compact – the rear is unquestionably sleek and minimal, and BenQ goes to great lengths to explain the effort that has been made to create the bespoke look and feel. However, eye-catching as the E1000 might be, in use it disappoints.

A power-up time of upwards of four seconds is accompanied by slow focusing and sluggish, noisy zoom. Image quality isn’t the best either, with exposures generally muddled, noise evident at the lowest ISO settings and image flaws evident throughout the frame.
