The camera takes the weatherproof ethos of the mju range one step further; it can take photographs up to 3m underwater and is shockproof to MIL STD (Military Standard), withstanding falls from 1.5m.
The 3x optical zoom (38-114mm: 35mm equiv) sports a folded light path design, enabling dimensions of 91 x 58.7 x 19.8 mm.
Featuring a 7.1MP CCD, the 2.5in LCD is 4x brighter than normal screens, thanks to Olympus?s BrightCapture Technology. Additionally the sensitivity levels can be adjusted to ISO 1600, to make it easier to compose shots in low-light conditions without using a flash.
The 24 scene modes include Underwater mode ? which, when used with the new PTT-033 underwater case, enables the camera to be used up to 40m underwater.
Alongside still images, the 720 SW captures 640×480 movies at a rate of 15fps. It also includes 19.1MB internal memory, 7cm Super Macro mode and a Guide Function offering on-screen explanations of camera features. Direct printing is possible to PictBridge-compatible printers.
Available in Dusky Pink, Steel Silver and Polar Blue from March, the mju 720 SW will cost around £300.
