New additions to the PowerShot range spearheaded by the G10, while the SX range sees two new models u2013 the SX1 IS and SX10 IS. Elsewhere, the IXUS range gains two new manual control models in the form of the IXUS 980 IS and IXUS 870 IS

Canon has launched a plethora of new models to consolidate its already expansive range PowerShot and IXUS camera.

The spearhead of the PowerShot launch is an update to the G series, in the form of the G10. The latest model features a 5x optical zoom with a wide-angle of 28mm, 14.7MP CCD sensor with Raw shooting capabilities, combined with Canon?s new DIGIC 4 processor, and a ?class-leading? 3in, 461k-dot resolution LCD screen. The G10 is available now at £499.99 RRP.

Canon has also announced two new additions to its SX series ? the 10MP SX1 IS and SX10 IS. The cameras share many common characteristics outside of their 10MP resolution. Both sport a 20x optical zoom, driven by both USM and VCM technology, and are also powered by Canon?s new DIGIC 4 processor.

The differentiation between the pair comes in the form of their LCD screens and video recording capabilities ? the SX10 IS sports a 2.5in vari-angle LCD and records in 30fps VGA, while the SX1 IS sports a 2.8in vari-angle wide-screen LCD, records in full 1080p, 30fps HD, and is capable of shooting 4fps at full resolution. The SX10 IS is available now, with an RRP of £359.99, while the SX1 IS is due in December, and will set you back £519.99

It?s not just the PowerShot range that sees a revamp however, as Canon has introduced a pair of new IXUS’s ? the IXUS 980 IS and IXUS 870 IS. The models feature 14.7MP and 10MP respectively, and are the first in the IXUS series to offer full manual control over shutter and aperture. The 980 IS features a both a 2.5in LCD and optical viewfinder, while the 870 IS features solely a 3in LCD. Both models are out now, with the 980 IS?s RRP £349.99, and the 870 IS having an RRP of £269.99
