With a firm eye on initial purchase cost, you have to give Lexmark credit for delivering an all-in-one with a colour LCD and associated direct printing facilities for under £100. Credit is also due when it comes to photo printing from Lexmark. With the standard photo cartridge used, reasonably good tonality is achieved, if at the expense of slightly too saturated look. The P4350 doesn’t worry the Epson RX520 in this department, but it competes very well with HP’s photo print quality. It also boasts good fade resistance through the clever use of a hybrid pigment and dye-based ink set. Fast printing, however, is not something you’ll find with the P4350, with an A4 borderless photo taking seven minutes to complete. We’ve also experienced more nozzle blocking problems with Lexmark cartridges than any other. Scanning is also relatively leisurely, though results are not bad. Perhaps the biggest concern is the long-term running costs because Lexmark combo ink cartridges are not the cheapest.

Verdict

The Lexmark P4350 is almost identical to the original P6250 model but is cheaper thanks to a smaller LCD display. Lexmark boasts competitive print life, though photo print quality is only average and printing times are long. Long term printing costs are also a concern, if you expect to make a lot of photo prints.
