Canon IXUS 100 IS Review

Manufacturer:

Price as reviewed:

£250.00

One of the latest in Canon’s highly successful, stylish IXUS range, the IXUS 100 IS is strikingly slim and available in either silver, black, red or gold.

The model doesn’t scrimp on specification, cramming in a 12.1MP sensor and 3x optical zoom, complete with optical image stabilisation, into its slim profile.

The model also incorporates full HD movie capture, at a resolution of 1280×720 and 30fps, and also offers an HDMI output connector. The model also boasts the unique pair of both a 2.5in PureColor LCD screen and an optical viewfinder, although the latter is particularly small.

As with most ‘lifestyle’ compacts currently on the market, the IXUS 100 IS features a range of capture controls, such as motion and face detection, i-Contrast, and Smart Auto with Scene Detection technology.

Verdict

The IXUS 100 IS is another example of a fine Canon IXUS compact. Auto focus is fast, metering and exposures are reliable, and good quality images are attainable with minimum effort, though said quality is once again at an IXUS premium price.
