Sometimes you need a bag that can hold a whole bunch of different stuff, whether it be for work or leisure, and you also want room for a decent camera. But you don’t want your DSLR rattling around with your tuna sandwiches or sweaty football shorts. Backpacks have been available for a while now that feature a separate compartment for camera gear and personal gear, but here’s a messenger type bag that does the same thing.

The CompuDay Photo 150 is a lightweight, medium sized bag with a raft of different pockets and compartments. There’s a slot at the back for a laptop, one in front of that for paperwork or magazines, a few smaller pockets for keys, USB sticks, media cards and so forth, and a main cavity for your bulky bits. The cover flap housing another large zip pocket is secured via two clips. So where does the camera go? Here’s the clever bit – a outer zip on the left hand side reveals a padded side compartment that’s big enough for a smallish DSLR and kit lens, such as the Canon EOS 600D, and is accessible without having to remove the bag or open the main section. Perfect! If you want, you can carry a big lens such as a 70-200mm f/2.8 in the main compartment but there are no adjustable dividers in the main section. The bag is very lightweight but is able to accommodate a surprising amount of gear in relative comfort.

Verdict

For under £40 it's a great buy for certain situations, though probably not as your main bag if you have a fair bit of equipment.
