Panasonic Lumix FX37 review

Manufacturer:

Price as reviewed:

£190.00

This upgrade to the FX35 adds a 5x zoom, a 25-125mm lens and a new LCD monitor with a wider angle of view.

Panasonic’s cameras tend to be a bit pricey, and at around £190 the FX37 is more expensive than many of its competitors.  However, the build quality is outstanding and the camera is also quick, pleasant and easy to use.  There’s no denying that it’s a great-looking model too.

The FX37 also sports a near-identical set of features to the FX35, including the aclaimed MegaOIS image stabilisation system, Intelligent Auto mode and 1280 x 720 HD video mode.  There are a couple of extra scene modes and effects, but they don’t amount to much.

Low-light performance is good, but overall image quality lags a bit behind some of its rivals.  High ISO image noise is a problem, and the overall level of detail is a little disappointing.

Verdict

The FX37 looks great, performs will and is built to last, but image quality could be better.
