PMA 2010 preview day - five new Samsung NX lenses; five new Sigma lenses, the SD15 nears completion, DP1x and DP2s; variety of new compacts and, off-topic, one hell of a hefty burger...

What would America be without the burger? Taking a quick break from the PMA sneak peak preview we were greeted by the wonderment that is Carl’s Jr. Burger, and boy did they do some big burgers, here’s the guacamole special:

And quite a preview day it’s been too. Before the main event has even kicked off, some of the camera releases have been as meaty as our lunch: Samsung took lead by announcing five new NX-mount lenses, which is likely to see the NX10‘s popularity sore over the coming year. Adding to the compact range, the new Samsung WB2000 series sees a sub-£350 compact with 1080p Full HD movie capture and even a 1000 frames per second capture option. Next up the Samsung EX1, with its tilt-angle AMOLED screen and f/1.8 24mm wideangle 3xz optical zoom lens looks set to show the high-end compact market a thing or two. Also releasing an array of significant products was Sigma – no less than five new lenses, a near-finished SD15 DSLR was also on display and, although not yet confirmed for UK release, the DP1x and DP2s see small yet notable improvements to the original models that look to have taken on public feedback.

And so the preview draws to a close, and we await the first public day. There’s a guarantee of at least one major announcement, so keep eyes peeled on the site at around 6pm UK time tomorrow evening…
