Review: A condensed version of Focal Press’s Focal Encyclopedia of Photography, this does away with much of the scientific side of the original tome, focusing instead on the evolution on the medium, selected photographers’ biographies and where photography stood in relation to its time and its general perception. Issues such as ethical photojournalism and scientific applications are also covered, and it’s fair to say that it contains a wealth of information for those keen on researching photographic history. For just over double its price, though, the original book offers far better value for money, covering a substantially broader and more diverse range of topics. What Digital Camera Score 84%
